How do you use two ps3 controllers on a ps3?

I recently got a ps3 it only came with one Controller. Unlike the ps2 the ps3 has cordless controllers,so if I were to get a second one how do you connect it to the ps3. I mean you cant just plug it in because it is cordless.

You can plug a ps3 controller into the ps3 by using a usb cord. Any that fit will do. And the ps3 should come with a cord. When you get a new controller, it is assigned to another ps3 that isn't your own, and when you plug it in, it changes which ps3 the controller uses.

So just plug it in, turn it on, and then you can unplug it and use it any time you want without having to do this again.

If you bought it on ebay, then you probably bought a fake controller. They usually work, but sometimes dont. If your controller is infrared, then it should come with something that you plug into the ps3 that acts as a receiver. If not, then go to your system menu and search for new blue tooth devices. If it doesn't find it, and doesn't have a usb plug, then your controller isn't going to work.
